Episode 1 of our 3-part series Illuminating Flow Cytometry introduces the topic with an overview of flow cytometry: a technique for analysis of cellular properties in which cells suspended in a fluid stream flow through a focus of excited light which is scattered in patterns characteristic to the cells and their components. Flow cytometry has several applications in clinical research and practice, which will be explored throughout the series.
Barry van der Strate is Director of Bioanalytical Science at PRA Health Sciences’ state-of-the-art Bioanalytical Laboratory in Assen, the Netherlands. Barry joined PRA in 2008 as a Project Manager and currently leads the Science Department for Immunoassays. Barry’s field of expertise is the development of immunoassays for PK, PD, ADA and flow cytometry purposes.
